Diamonds Passenger

Lyrics and guitar chords

  • Guitar chords Derrick
Diamonds by Passenger, from his album "Flight of the Crow" from 2010.
He plays it with the capo on 7th fret - at least on the version I listened to:
The album version on spotify featuring Simon R. Beckleman, which seems to fit this
version from Youtube exactly:

The other tab here is fine, but had the missing Gm/Gm as flaws, so I decided to work that out
and also add a short section of the guitar in the intro
The little guitar riff intro-thing he does will be included at the bottom, for those who fancy that.

For the rhythm I suggest you listen to the song and sort out what works for you :)

[Intro]
F C G Gm F C G

[Verse 1]

Well I spoke to this Fman
C   Said he’d been to the mGoon
Gm  Carved his name in the gFround
   Saw the world spinning rCound
   (and) came back that afterGnoon.

[Verse 2]

And I laughed at this Fman
C   Said he’d been lost at sGea
Gm  Heard the sirens' cFall
   Seen the pirates fCall
To the monsters in the dGeep

[Chorus]

I said I’d heard some tall tFales
C   Some good stories in my tGmime
Gm  So I asked him for prFoof
And he showed me the trCuth
There was dancing in his Geyes.

[Interlude]

1st horn interlude: F C G Gm F C G
(you can play the guitar "riff" here, if you fancy)

[Verse 3]

I could not believe thiFs man
C   Said he was a millionaire G
Gm  He said: "I know I dress in rFags
But I drive a vintage 'JCag'
And I’ve got a diamond chandelGier".

[Chorus]

   I said I think I need a drFink
C   And made my way outsidGme
Gm  You know I’d swear this was a spFoof
If it wasn’t for the tCruth
There was dancing in his Geyes.

[Interlude]

2nd horn interlude/solo: F C G Gm F C *G X2

[Verse 4]

(There isn't rhythm as such in the last verse, just a strum per chord will do)

When I came back in the rFoom
C   The man had disappGeared
Gm  He left a rock from the mFoon
   An eyepatch and a dCiamond
   From a chandelGier.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The guitar figure during intro, which also fits during the interludes.
It's up to you whether you play the stuff in ( ). It's nice as fillings if you play alone.

Relative to capo:

F C G Gm

Em|-----------------------------------------------------|
B|--1--3--5--3--1--1-----(0)--0--1--3--5--1-----(1)----|
G|-----------------2-----(0)--------------0-----(2)----|
D|--2--3--5--3--2--3-----(0)--0--2--3--5--2-----(2)----|
A|---------------------------------------(3)----(0)----|
E|----------------(1)----(3)---------------------------|

F C G

e|---------------------1---0---------------------------|
B|--1--3--5--3--1--1-----------3-----0--1--3--5--1-----|
G|-----------------2---2---0--(0)---------------(0)----|
D|--2--3--5--3--2--3-----------0-----0--2--3--5--2-----|
A|----------------------------------------------(3)----|
E|----------------(1)---------(3)----------------------|

If you aren't playing with a capo, simply add 7 to the number of the frets listed above,
as such your 1st fret relative to capo would be your 8th fret instead, your open string in capo = 7th fret.
You get the idea :)

Hope you found this useful!
